17-year-old Julie Jensen is one of Denmark’s most talented volleyball players. Many years of daily training and matches in both clubs and on the Danish National team have already worn out her knees at a young age…. injuries, which the Align Footwear insoles help to relieve.
Training six days a week, matches every weekend and tournaments for a number of Danish young teams….. a fast-paced programme which may take your breath away. But Julie Jensen loves volleyball – and to play and represent her country as well as spending the summer playing beach volleyball.
Therefore, it was a great personal challenge for Julie Jensen as her left knee already became a problem at the age of 16. It really did hurt a lot. “No one could really figure out what was wrong, and a scan did not show anything wrong, unfortunately”, says Julie Jensen.
At the age of 15, she moved from a small village to Ikast in order to stay and train volleyball with other ambitious volley girls on the city’s popular sports boarding school. Because of the ambitious elite-volley environment, she has decided to stay in Ikast, where she now lives on the city’s sports college, where she exercises and play volleyball every morning and is going to high school. “The pain in my knees was frustrating. Because it hurts – and because this pain prevented me from doing what I love most: playing volley”.
A visit to a local sports physiotherapist did, however, make a big difference. He found a so-called “folds tendon” in the knee, which was trapped. Along with physical therapy of the knee, he also recommended Julie to insert some support/insoles in her volleyball shoes in order to relieve her knees.
